What is Wage?
Wage is a competitive finance strategy game that pairs you against other players in timed matches. Each player builds a virtual portfolio consisting of real-market assets, stocks, crypto, or commodities. The player whose portfolio achieves the higher percentage growth by the end of the match wins. Wage is designed to help you develop real investing skills in a lower risk but fast-paced environment.
Do I need investing experience to play?
Not at all. Wage is built to reduce the learning curve for retail investors. You start at the Rookie tier with a curated set of assets and simpler gameplay, and as you earn Mastery Points through matches and educational modules, you unlock more assets, perks, and higher wager thresholds. The game is designed to build your confidence and decision-making skills progressively.
Am I trading with real money?
Within the beta, No. All matches use Chips ($CHP), Wage's in-game currency. You wager Chips when entering a match, and earn them by winning matches and completing community activities. There is no financial risk in the beta.
What are Perks and how do they work?
Perks are in-game power-ups that add a strategic layer to every match. They fall into three categories, Defensive (like Guard and Fortress), Offensive (like Flame and Flip), and Strategic (like Shadow). You can use up to 3 perks per match, with each slot unlocking as the match progresses. Higher-tier perks become available as you level up, giving you more ways to protect your portfolio or disrupt your opponent's.
What assets can I trade on Wage?
Wage features real-time data for stocks, cryptocurrencies, and commodities. The assets available to you depend on your tier and the time of your match, if traditional markets are closed (weekends, holidays, after hours), crypto assets are still available to play with. As you progress through the tiers from Rookie to Elite, the pool of assets you can choose from expands significantly.
